Azhar named TranSouth POW

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Na’im Azhar was named the TranSouth Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after winning three of his four matches, including both singles outings for the Bulldogs.

Azhar won his singles outing at No. 2 against Lindsey Wilson’s Andrews Moraes, 6-4, 7-5, but dropped his doubles outing at No. 1 with Evan Sanna, 8-0, to Moraes and Andre Santos. The Bulldogs' match versus Lindsey Wilson was suspended with LWC leading, 4-2.

In a 5-4 loss to No. 24 Martin Methodist, Azhar won both of his matches, defeating Renato Castro, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles and teaming with Pedro Rodrigues to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles over Castro and Vinicius Santos.

Azhar is 4-3 this spring in both singles and doubles while playing No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in every match. Cumberland hosts Georgetown College this Friday and travels to Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday.
