LEBANON, Tenn. – Antonio Manuel Marcelo was voted First Team All-American and Pedro Rodrigues earned Second Team honors, as announced this week by the NAIA and selected by the national organization’s All-America committee.

Marcelo and Rodrigues helped the Bulldogs reach the quarterfinals of the NAIA Championships for the first time in program history last week in Mobile, Ala. Cumberland was ranked in the Top 11 in all eight regular season NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 polls while Marcelo was ranked in singles and Marcelo and Rodrigues were ranked in doubles in all three Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings.

Marcelo posted a 14-3 singles mark after missing the first seven matches because of injury. The Cascais, Portugal, native finished the year 20-6 overall in doubles, including 16-5 with Rodrigues at No. 1 doubles. Marcelo was 4-2 in singles this year against ranked opponents and was a Second Team All-American in 2012.
