LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland won all three doubles matches and collected five singles wins in straight sets, as the 14th-ranked Phoenix cruised to an 8-1 victory over No. 11 Campbellsville University in men’s tennis action Wednesday at the Tommy Gray Memorial Courts.

Cumberland’s match Thursday against Blue Mountain College has been canceled. The Phoenix host the University of Pikeville this Sunday at Noon.

Ramon Puertolas and Axel Lucich gave CU its first point with an 8-1 doubles win at No. 2 over Alberto Perez and Hercilio Cabieses. Pau Grabuleda Cruañas and Alejo Bagnera won 8-3 at No. 1 against Cristian Perez and Will True and Thiago Lopes and Francisco Fernandez Meaca claimed an 8-4 victory at No. 2 versus Cedar Castro and Matus Sevcik.

Puertolas was first off in singles with a 6-3, 6-2, win at No. 2 against Cristian Perez and Bagnera clinched the match for the Phoenix swith a 7-6 (4), 6-2, win at No. 3 over Sevcik. True, ranked 40th, picked up Campbellsville’s only point at No. 1 when 30th-ranked Grabuleda Cruañas defaulted headed into a third-set tiebreaker.

Fernandez Meaca defeated Alberto Perez, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 before Lucich collected a 6-1, 6-1, victory at No. 5 over Cabieses. Guillermo Pardos finished the match with a 6-0, 6-0, decision at No. 6 versus Jonas Seckelmann.
