No. 11 Men's Tennis rolls past Shawnee State

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio--In a dominant display of tennis, 11-ranked Cumberland men's tennis cruise past Shawnee 7-0 in Mid-South Conference play on the road. 

Cumberland defeated the Bears with a clean sweep on the back of strong performances in both doubles and singles matches. Pavel Kelo and Adrijan Hrzic got Cumberland off to a strong start in doubles with a 6-4 victory over Duarte Melo and Zayden Rinehart. Daniel Wessels and Dan Slapnik Trost then followed suit, cruising to a 6-0 win over Dylan Smith and Matt Stam. Felipe Ferreira and Jackson Vaughan rounded out the doubles matches with a 6-2 win over Kennen Lambert and Landon Hodges.

Cumberland continued their winning ways in singles, with Pavel Kelo edging out Duarte Melo 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 in a closely contested match. Julian Parada put in a dominant performance, defeating Dylan Smith 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2, while German Suarez also won comfortably over Keenan Lambert at No. 3, with a score of 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 4, Fernando Flores was equally impressive, winning 6-1, 6-0 over Zinedine Purbo. Jackson Vaughan and Vaibhav Bisht rounded out the singles matches with commanding performances, each winning 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively.

The Phoenix will remain on the road with a Mid-South match against Thomas More on Saturday.
