Indoor track ends for Barnett, Brooks at national championships

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s Kalea Barnett placed 28th in the shot put and Martarious Brooks was 22nd in the 200-meters at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Johnson City, Tenn.

Barnett’s best throw among three attempts was 38-1.75 on Saturday, well below her mark of 42-3 when she won the Mid-South Conference Indoor Championships on February 18.

Brooks posted a time of 22.62 in his heat of the 200 on Friday, just behind his time of 22.36 at the conference meet last month.

Barnett and Brooks were the first Cumberland athletes to compete at the national championships for the first-year track program.
