Phoenix open up Outdoor Season at Falcon Classic

MONTEVALLO, Ala.--Cumberland men's and women's track and field opened up the Outdoor Season with the first day of the Falcon Classic consisting of a few field events and half of the decathalon events on the first day. 

The competition kicked off with the Men's Decathlon 100m, where Tate Tevaughn came out on top with a time of 11.47 seconds, earning him 759 points. Renaldo Savoury came in fifth place with a time of 11.60 seconds, earning him 732 points. The 400m saw Dinkon Sinisterra take the lead with a time of 55.38 seconds, earning him 584 points, followed by Renaldo Savoury with a time of 57.08 seconds, earning him 518 points.

 In the Men's Decathlon High Jump, Savoury cleared 1.74m, earning him 577 points and second place, followed by Tevaughn who cleared 1.65m and earned 504 points.

The Men's Decathlon Long Jump saw Dinkon Sinisterra come out on top with a distance of 5.98m, earning him 582 points, followed closely by Savoury with a distance of 5.97m and Tevaughn with a distance of 5.90m. Finally, in the Men's Decathlon Shot Put, Tevaughn earned first place with a distance of 12.07m, earning him 611 points. Sinisterra finished in fourth place with a distance of 10.27m, earning him 502 points, followed by Savoury in ninth place with a distance of 9.10m and 432 points.

In the Men's Long Jump, Mackey Bonds finished in sixth place with a distance of 6.46m, earning him 3 points. Scarlassara Liyu came in ninth place with a distance of 6.15m.

The Women's Long Jump saw Blessing Samuel take third place with a distance of 5.25m, earning her 6 points for Cumberland.

The final event of the day was the Men's 10000m, with Ethan Rhoden finishing in fourth place with a time of 32:10.63, earning him 5 points for Cumberland.

Day two will pick up tomorrow starting at 9:00 a.m. with the final event scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
