Softball inks Gordonsville's Maynard

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland softball coach Heather Stanfill announced the signing of Gordonsville pitcher Courtney Maynard to scholarship papers Monday for the 2009-10 academic year. Maynard becomes the 10th player to ink with the Bulldogs in the class of 2009.
 
Maynard is a five-year letterwinner in softball at Gordonsville, playing for Brian Leslie the past four seasons and Jonathan Bush in 2009. She earned All-District Tournament honors as an eighth grader and freshman and All-District accolades the past three seasons.
 
Maynard has also earned four letters in volleyball and three in basketball, garnering All-District and All-Region honors in basketball this past season. She has served as Class President all four years of high school as well as Beta Club President and Student Council President. The Lancaster, Tenn., native has also served as an officer for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for three years and been a Girls State Representative and received the Dan Forth Award.
 
She is the daughter of the late Wayne Maynard and Sandra Maynard.
 
Maynard joins Station Camp’s Christina Manis, Macon County’s Chandra Brooks, Mt. Juliet’s Megan Lavery, Houston County’s Shannel Nolen, Ravenwood’s Nicole Swann, White House’s Emily Nicholson, Lawrence County’s Allison Blackwood, Corona, Calif., native Caitlin Gray and DeKalb County’s Victoria Bennett in this year’s signing class.
