Softball picked sixth in TSAC

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s softball team was picked to tie for sixth in the 2009 TranSouth Coaches Poll released this week. The Bulldogs return six seniors and two pitchers for head coach Heather Stanfill's first season at the helm of the Bulldog program.
“If we remain healthy, I think we have high expectations and will surprise some teams in the conference,” Stanfill said. “We have several challenges, but we’re ready to get started with the season.”
Martin Methodist received seven of the eight first-place votes and 63 total points to rank first in the preseason poll, while Freed-Hardeman registered the other first-place vote and was second with 48 points, just ahead of Trevecca’s 47 points. Union University was fourth and Bethel College fifth.
Cumberland tied with Lyon College with 22 points and Mid-Continent ranked eighth with 16 points.
