Six volleyball players named TSAC Scholar-Athletes

LEBANON, Tenn. – Six Cumberland volleyball players have been selected as TranSouth Scholar-Athletes for their academic success in the classroom. The TSAC announced the recipients in advance of next week’s conference tournament, which begins Monday at Union University in Jackson, Tenn.
Cumberland, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, plays third-seeded Trevecca in the first round at 11:30 a.m. The tourney is double-elimination and ends Tuesday night.
TranSouth Scholar Athletes are varsity players who are sophomores, juniors and seniors with at least a 3.0 grade-point-average. Those qualifying for Cumberland include seniors Laurel Conrey and Kailen Harris, junior Tracy Smallwood and sophomores Lauren Carter, Samantha Bellar and Taylor Denny. Thirty total players from the league were honored as scholar-athletes.
The Bulldogs ended the regular season 19-16 overall, 6-8 in conference play. Results and information about the TSAC Tournament may be found at
