LEBANON, Tenn. – Lauren Carter posted a career-high six kills, Laura DeGear had four blocks and Taylor Denney recorded nine service aces to lead Cumberland University as the Bulldogs swept Tennessee Temple University Thursday in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Cumberland (10-0) needed just three sets to knock off an opponent for the eighth time this season and the Volleydawgs continued what is now the second best start to a season under 23rd-year head coach Dwayne Deering. CU started the 2007 campaign with 13 straight wins.

The Bulldogs claimed the first set 25-10, hitting .500 as a team with nine kills before tallying an attack percentage of .000 in each of the final two sets, which CU won 25-7 and 25-13, respectively.

Cumberland held the Crusaders (0-7) to a negative .333 hitting percentage in the contest, forcing 16 errors while allowing just six kills. Tennessee Temple hit below zero in each set, including a negative .875 mark in the second set with no kills and seven errors on eight attempts.

Nine different Cumberland players recorded at least one kill in the match with a trio of Bulldogs collecting at least three, including Mackenzie Gass whose three kills came on just three attacks.

For the match Cumberland totaled seven total blocks and 19 service aces.
