LEBANON, Tenn. – Cali Crosslin recorded six kills and Brooke Bowers posted 13 digs, but Cumberland started slowly and never really recovered, dropping a 3-0 decision to Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday night in Columbia, Ky.
The Bulldogs (9-14) hit just .024 in the match, registering 19 kills against 17 errors against the Blue Raiders (17-1). Meghan Gass had 11 assists to lead CU and Lacey Gregory added nine, while Karli Collins recorded five kills and seven digs. Jaclyn Rodriguez added seven digs as well.
Cumberland dropped the first set, 25-12, collecting only five kills to 10 for the home team. LWC added 11 more kills in a much closer second set, but the Bulldogs committed more errors than kills (7-to-9) and lost 25-20.
The Blue Raiders posted 12 more kills in the final set while CU had just seven. LWC hit .160 for the match but took advantage of its chances and prevailed, 25-15, in the final set.
Emily Meeks led Lindsey Wilson with six kills and Alex Kibsey added five, while Alyssa Cuthbert posted 16 assists and Audra McNabney and Rachael Anderson each registered 11 digs.
Cumberland plays at Freed-Hardeman next Monday at 6 p.m., Martin Methodist on October 6 and Union University on October 11 before returning home October 13 against Trevecca Nazarene.
