Bulldogs sign Stas

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland volleyball coach Dwayne Deering announced the signing of Griffith, Ind., native Jessica Stas to scholarship papers for the 2012-13 academic year. Stas is the fifth signee for the Bulldogs for next season.

Stas was Home Schooled but played high school volleyball at Calumet Christian School in Griffith, Ind. She attended Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Ill., the last two years, earning Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and Second Team All-American honors for the Pioneers as a sophomore.

The 5-10 outside hitter posted 714 career kills in two seasons at Prairie State, ranking third on PSC’s career kills list, and recorded 450 kills this past season, good for fourth in the single-season list for the Pioneers. She is the daughter of John and JoAnne Stas.
