CU loses MSC home opener to Lindsey Wilson
Mackenzie Gass led CU with nine kills against Lindsey Wilson.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland volleyball returned home to face Lindsey Wilson College at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center on Tuesday night following a four-game road trip. The friendly confines of home were not enough to propel the Bulldogs, as they were downed by the Blue Raiders 3-0.

The Bulldogs (4-6) struggled to find rhythm in the first and second set, losing by scores of 25-11 and 25-14, respectively. CU was able to stay close in game three but eventually fell by a score of 25-21.

MacKenzie Gass paced the Bulldogs with nine kills on the night while Jaclyn Munoz added five. Caitlin Carlander contributed 17 assists and Brooke Bowers had 14 digs.

The first and second sets were marred by CU errors, and after building a 3-2 advantage in the first game, the Bulldogs were unable to gain another lead on the night.

Battling an eight point deficit midway through the third, Cumberland found some firepower behind three Gass kills. A Jessi Stas ace tied the game at 15-15, but Lindsey Wilson answered with five straight points. CU could not get closer than three the rest of the way, and the Blue Raiders wrapped up the win.

For Lindsey Wilson (9-6), Kailey Moorhead led the way with 14 kills, Andrea Taylor produced 37 assists and Kristi Hager had 15 digs.

The Bulldogs host the Cumberland Classic on Friday and Saturday, beginning their match play against Martin Methodist at noon on Friday.
