Volleyball loses in five to Bluefield

LEBANON, Tenn. – Twelve kills by Cumberland’s Jacklyn Munoz were not quite enough to propel the Bulldogs over Bluefield College Saturday at the Mid-South Conference Crossover, with CU losing in five sets.

After losing the first two sets, Cumberland came back in sets three and four to tie up the match at 2-2. The Rams came through down the stretch in the fifth set, winning the match 15-13.

Danielle Girardeau added 10 kills for the Bulldogs, Desirae Burris contributed 28 kills and Brooke Bowers totaled 18 digs.

For Bluefield, Jasmine Morrow had 15 kills, Cheznee Daily handed out 41 assists, and Colby Combs and Britny Paynter each supplied 11 digs.

CU travels to face Lindsey Wilson on Thursday for a 6 p.m. CT match.
