Gass voted All-Mid-South; 8 players earn Scholar-Athlete honors

LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Mackenzie Gass was voted Honorable Mention All-Mid-South Conference and eighth Cumberland players were named Mid-South Conference Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the league office in advance of the conference tournament that begins Friday in Louisville, Ky.

Gass led the Bulldogs with 300 kills this season, 11th best in the Mid-South, averaging 2.65 kills per set, which ranks 15th in the league. The Collierville, Tenn., native also collected 60 digs and 42 total blocks in 113 sets of action this season. Gass finished the season with 15 double-figure kill matches, including 19 versus Lindenwood University-Belleville on September 22 and 16 in the season finale earlier this week against St. Catharine College.

Cumberland had the second most MSC Scholar-Athletes, trailing Lindsey Wilson’s 10 and tying the University of Rio Grande. A total of 62 conference volleyball players were honored. Student-athletes must maintain a 3.25 grade-point-average and must have achieved at least sophomore academic status to be eligible for the award.
