Volleyball announces 2014 schedule

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University volleyball coach Dwayne Deering announced his 2014 schedule this week, which includes 19 home matches and the club’s two annual tournaments at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

The Bulldogs open the 2014 campaign with the Volleydawg Classic on August 29-30, facing Tennessee Temple, Brescia University, Pensacola Christian, Johnson University and Fisk University. CU then plays the University of Pikeville to begin Mid-South Conference action on September 4.

The club will take on Fisk, Point University and Oglethorpe University in the Sewanee Invitational and travels to Trevecca Nazarene before hosting the Cumberland Classic on Sept. 12-13, facing Freed-Hardeman, Ohio Valley University, Reinhardt University, Ohio Christian University and Fisk.

Only three nonconference matches remain once the Bulldogs reach the middle of September, a home-and-home with Tennessee Tempe and a home match versus Trevecca Nazarene. CU hosts Mid-South Conference opponents Lindsey Wilson, Georgetown College, the University of the Cumberlands, Shawnee State, St. Catharine College and Campbellsville University.

The Mid-South Conference Championships take place November 13-15.
