LEBANON, Tenn. – Tamara Gonzalez came off the bench to hit a trio of 3-pointers and scored 18 points and Allysia Bailey added 13 points in Cumberland’s 70-53 victory over Bryan College Saturday in the Pops Duncan Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
The Bulldogs (2-1) shot 52 percent in the first half and jumped out to a 39-23 advantage at intermission. Gonzalez and Bailey both netted three 3-pointers and Brittany Cash added a pair of trifectas, as CU knocked down nine treys in the game after hitting just one the day before in a three-point loss to Talladega College.
Keshia Brown scored eight points and handed out five assists for Cumberland, who committed only 11 turnovers in the game and dished out 14 assists. The Bulldogs were also 15-for-18 at the foul line after making only 8-of-17 in the loss to Talladega.
Cumberland plays a doubleheader with the CU men Monday at Fisk Univ. in Nashville before heading to St. Catharine College Friday.
