LEBANON, Tenn. – Courtney Atkinson scored 15 points, Jessica Pace netted 11 and Samantha Harper added 10 points off the bench in Cumberland’s 64-24 victory over Oakwood University in women’s basketball action Monday night at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

The Bulldogs (7-11) won their third game in the last four outings, limiting the Ambassadors (4-12) to just seven total field goals and 16 percent shooting in the contest. Oakwood committed 29 turnovers, which led to 25 Cumberland points.

Atkinson paced the Bulldogs for the third consecutive outing and grabbed seven rebounds. Pace and Harper both recorded eight boards, while Simone Ryan registered nine points and six caroms and Katie Smith added seven points and six rebounds off the bench. Nine of the 10 Cumberland players scored, grabbed a rebound, handed out an assist and made a steal.

CU held a 30-9 advantage at halftime after the Ambassadors netted just four points in the game’s first 13 minutes. The Bulldogs led 24-4 after an Atkinson bucket with 3:45 remaining in the half.

Cumberland pushed the lead to as many as 43 points late in the game thanks to a pair of free throws by Harper and then another bucket by the junior.

Cumberland heads to Fisk University on Thursday at 6 p.m. and returns to TranSouth Conference action Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mid-Continent University.
