Jalyn Brooks

Assistant Coach

Cumberland head women's basketball coach Scott Blum announced the hiring of Jalyn Brooks this week. Brooks is a former Division I player spending time at Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky University.

Brooks spent the past year working at Clayton State University as graduate assistant for women's basketball and compliance in the athletic department.  She assisted with scouting reports, practices, and handled gameday responsibilities for women's basketball. With compliance, she served on the academic committee, monitored study halls and created academic progress reports.

The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native, began her playing career at Morehead State (Ky.) in 2014-15 where she saw action in five games. She transferred to Motlow State for her sophomore season and averaged 3.8 points, 2.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 10 games before an injury cut her season short.

In 2016-17 she transferred to Division I Eastern Kentucky and garnered one start in nine appearances. That season she assisted EKU in reaching the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship game.

Brooks finished her bachelor's degree in Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies from Middle Tennessee State in 2018 and received her Master of Business Administration from Clayton State University earlier this year.
