Phoenix women finishes 5th at Fast Cats Classic

OWENSBORO, Ky.- Cumberland women's cross country placed 5th out of 16 teams Saturday at the Fast Cats Classic in Owensboro, Kentucky.

The Phoenix posted 159 points to finish 5th as they finished ahead of Mid-South opponent Thomas More and NCAA Division I teams Austin Peay and Tennessee State.

Senior Amber Mays finished in 9th place with a time of 18:48, the best finish for the Phoenix. Senior Abby Gawthorp finished 22nd with a time of 19:30.

Sasha Petrova came in just behind Gawthorp at 25th and a time of 19:30 as well. This is Petrova best time of the season, 30 seconds faster than her next previous best.

Freshman Elise Krone finished in 54th place at 20:31 and junior Hannah Spring came in 66th place with a time of 21:11.

Freshman Sarah Sneed and Victoria Reales Pruano came in 83rd and 88th place with times of 21:49 and 22:05, respectively.

There were 137 ladies that completed the 6k race.
