Cumberland Women's XC finishes fourth at the Redhawks XC Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.-- Cumberland women's cross country finishes 4th at the Redhawks XC Invitational hosted by NCAA Division I Southeast Missouri State University.

The Phoenix competed in a 4k race with an eight-team field consisting of a mixture of NAIA and NCAA schools. Elise Krone was the first Phoenix runner to cross the line at a time of 15:39.6 to finish 18th in the event. Freshman runners Kasey Quezada and Sarah Wilkerson finished 19th and 20th just seconds after Krone. Quezada finished with a time of 15:48.5 while Wilkerson crossed the line at 15:50.1.

Sophomore Daniela Rivera crossed the finish line with a time of 16:13.9 for a 27th place finish. Mercy Kibiwott finished the race in 32nd place with a time of 16:26.2.

Lindsey Armstrong finished in 33rd place with a time of 16:46.1 and Sami Parker rounded up the Phoenix one second after Armstrong with a time of 16:47.9.

Rachel Anderson from Southern Illinois University won the race with a time of 13:50.4 while Southeast Missouri State University won the event as a team.

The women will head to John Hunt Park on September 16 to compete in the Northern Alabama Showcase.
