McGinley leads after first round of CU Invite

LEBANON, Tenn. – Sophomore K.C. McGinley posted a season-best 78 and leads by four shots after Friday’s first round of the Cumberland Spring Invitational at Windtree Golf Club in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.

McGinley was just one shot of her career best as a Bulldog on the par-72, 5609-yard course. The Savannah, Tenn., native is four shots ahead of Trevecca Nazarene’s Ashley Scism and Ashley Randolph heading into Saturday afternoon’s second round. TNU leads the Bulldogs by three shots in the team event.

Freshman Kayla Smith is fourth overall after a first-round 85, while sophomore Allyson Agee carded an 87 and is tied for sixth. Sophomore Sarah Beth Foote recorded an opening-round 90 and is tied for 10th, and freshman Lindsey shot a 92, good for 13th.
