Sophomore trio shoots 81, CU tied for third

LEBANON, Tenn. – Sophomores Abbey Burgdorf, Morgan Stuckey and Savanna Strode all carded scores of 81 and are tied for eighth and Cumberland’s women are tied for third after the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational at Elks Country Club in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Taylor Church from the University of the Cumberlands leads the individuals with a one-over par 73 and Campbellsville University’s Cassidy Scantland shot 74. Burgdorf, Stuckey and Strode trail three players by three strokes, with that trio tied for fourth overall.

Freshman Delaney Lazenby posted a first-round 84, good for 26th place, while freshman Taylor Crouch registered an opening-round 87 and stands 34th.

Cumberland is tied for third in the team standings with Lindsey Wilson, eight strokes behind Campbellsville. The University of the Cumberlands leads by 11 shots over Campbellsville heading into Friday’s final round.
