Pages Preuss leads CU women with first-round 77

LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Ana Laura Pages Preuss shot 77 and Maria Pilar Scenna and Anna Leigh Cleveland each posted 78 for Cumberland women’s golf Saturday at the Mid-South Conference Fall Invitational at StoneCrest Golf Club in Prestonsburg, Ky.

Pages Preuss posted a five-over par 77, tied for fifth overall and four strokes behind the leader, Campbellsville University’s Kylie Withrow.

Pilar Scenna, a freshman, and Cleveland, a senior, each carded six-over par 78, tied for 11th but only three shots from second place.

Junior Raquel Romero Valverde recorded a first-round 83, tied for 27th, while sophomore Cindy Williams shot 90 on Saturday, tied for 35th.

Cumberland stands third as a team at 316, 11 strokes behind Lindsey Wilson and six in back of the University of the Cumberlands heading into Sunday’s final round.
