LEBANON, Tenn. – Junior Raquel Romero Valverde posted a final-round two-over 74 and junior Ana Laura Pages Preuss carded a 75, helping Cumberland women’s golf to a fifth-place team finish Tuesday at the Skyhawk Invitational in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Romero Valverde moved up six spots with the fourth best score of the day, tying for fifth individually. She registered a 36-hole total of 150, five strokes behind Bryan College’s Krista Reinhardt, the low medalist.

Pages Preuss improved five places in the standings with her three-over 75, posting a two-day score of 152 for eighth place.

Freshman Maria Pilar Scenna shot 82 in the final round, tying for 19th, while senior Anna Leigh Cleveland and freshman Maggie Anderson each tied for 54th. Cleveland carded a final-round 88 and Anderson recorded a second-round 90.

The 22nd-ranked Phoenix finished fifth as a team with a two-day score of 631, 319 on Tuesday. Southeastern University won the event but Cumberland was just four strokes behind Thomas University and 11 in back of Faulkner University.

The Phoenix play again March 22-23 at the Clash at Crosswinds in Savannah, Ga.
