Phoenix Women's Golf finishes second at Georgetown College Invite
The Phoenix Women finished in second place in Pinehurst, N.C.

PINEHURST, N.C.-- Cumberland Women's golf placed second in the Georgetown College Invite on Tuesday. The Phoenix moved up the leaderboards with a strong day two performance to finish as the runner-up. 

The tournament consisted of two rounds of golf with one taking place on Monday, Mar. 1, and the final round on Tuesday, Mar. 2. The Phoenix was the runner-up in the tournament to Southeastern University. The Cumberland Women finished ahead of Lindsey Wilson College, Truett McConnell, Midway University, Georgetown College, Holy Cross (IN), and Miles College.

Individually, Pilar Scena followed up her first-round performance of an 84 with a 76, which earns her a top-five finish in the tournament in fourth place. Nathalie Nutu comes in tenth place overall after she shot 89 on the first day and 80 on the next.

Raquel Romero Valverde came in tied for 12th place after a day one score of 88 and a day two score of 83. Emma Hermansson shot 88 on the first day and finished with an 85 on the second day to finish tied for 15th place. Rounding out the Phoenix, Ida Furuheim finishes in 33rd place with scores of 99 and 95.

Cumberland will receive points toward the regular-season championship based on the fifth-place finish in this tournament. The combined total score from the fall and spring tournaments will crown the regular season champions.

The Women's Golf team next hits the course in Mar. 15-16 at the Golden Tigers Spring Invitational in Gainesville, Ga.
