MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--Cumberland women's golf rallied in the remainder of the second round and in the third round today to storm up three spots to finish in second place at the Showdown at Legends.
The Phoenix finished the second round with the lowest score of the round at 307 and improved that with a 304 in the third and final round.
William Carey won the event by 25 strokes over Cumberland. The Crusaders had the lowest score of the tournament today in the final round with a 298 for a total of 924. Conference rival Lindsey Wilson finished two shots behind CU in third and Truett McConnell came in fourth. Rounding out the top-5 was the University of the Cumberlands.
Emma Hermansson continued her stellar play from the first day firing a career-best one-under-par 71 to finish tied for fourth at the tournament. Hermansson finished at 229 a the tournament and improved her score each round.
Anna Krieger finished in seventh place with 233 strokes. She also improved her score each round with going from a 80 in round one to a 78 in round two and finishing with a three-over par 75.
Jasmine Sachdev tied for 19th after an 75 in the second round and an 81 in the final round for a 243 throughout the tournament.
Nathalie Nutu fired a 76 and a 77 today. She took 21st place in the tournament after 244 in the event and Ida Furuheim finished in 49th with a 276.
Minji Kang took first place individually after shooting even-par through the three rounds.
Cumberland will next be in action at the Golden Tiger Collegiate.
