
HERMITAGE, Tenn.--Cumberland women's golf opened up the first day of the Music City Classic sitting in 14th after 36 holes. The tournament features 13 of the Top 25 schools in the NAIA with addition of NCAA Division I program Belmont.
Dalton State finished the first day of the tournament in the lead with a total score of 593 (+17). They shot a 298 in the first round and improved with a 295 in the second round. Their consistent play kept them ahead of the other teams. Keiser University finished the day in second place with a total score of 601 (+25). They shot a strong 292 in the first round but fell behind in the second round with a 309. Southeastern University is in third place with a total score of 606 (+30). Truett McConnell is in fourth and Belmont is in fifth.
Cumberland shot a 314 in round one and improved that by two strokes in round two with a 312, but the Phoenix slipped down the leaderboards to 14th place.
Anna Krieger is tied for 32nd place after shooting a 76 in the first round and a 78 in the second. Nathalie Nutu followed closely behind, shooting a 79 and a four-over 76 to tie for 40th place.
Emma Hermansson also gave a solid performance, tied for 45th place after shooting an 82 in the first round and recovered with the best score of the day for Cumberland with a 74 in the second. Jasmine Sachdev is tied for 76 after posting a 79 and an 84.
Ida Furuheim is in 86th place after shooting an 80 in the first round and a 90 in the second 18.
Caitlyn Bilham and Ksenia Yakovleva competed as individuals for Cumberland. Bilham is tied 76th place after shooting an 83 in the first round and an 80 in the second. Yakovleva is in 96th place after shooting an 87 and a 99.
The Phoenix will play the final round tomorrow at Hermitage Golf Course with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
