WICHITA, Kan.--Cole Smith placed third and Sammy Shires took fifth place during the All-American Rounds of the final day of the NAIA National Championship at Hartman Arena.
WICHITA, Kan.--Cumberland Wrestling ends day one of the NAIA National Championships with two guaranteed All-Americans. Sammy Shires shined and Cole Smith earned his third All-American honors joining a short list of Cumberland Wrestlers to accomplish the feat. The Phoenix are currently in 16th place after day one.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – (Qualifiers by Weight Class | Qualifiers by School | Qualifiers by Conference) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the qualifiers for the 2023 NAIA Wrestling National Championships hosted at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kan. The 66th annual event features four sessions and starts on March 3rd before ending on ESPN3 during the Championship bouts on Saturday, March 4th.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--Cumberland University wrestling had a strong showing at the Mid-South Conference Championships today finishing in second as a team with 137.0 points with a program-record four individual champions: Sammy Shires, Eli Clemmons, Cole Smith, and Ryan Long. Following the tournament, Shires was named the Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year. James Hicks was named the Head Coach of the Year and Tyler Smith was named the Assistant Coach of the Year.
