CU 12th at Midwest Classic
Three of the six who wrestled placed at the Midwest Classic at the University of Indianapolis. Desean Willis at 125, Corey Bleaken at 149, and Jordan Powers at 174 all placed at the prestigious classic. Willis had a 3-3 record on the weekend, placing sixth. He defeated the No. 2 seed, Carson Newman's Kody Pierson, by fall, before falling 13-8 to the eventual champion, Adams State's Arsenia Barksdale. Willis thenhad a 5-3 decision over Central Missouri's Caleb Dixon and a 5-3 decision over David Penny from Ohio Northern before losing his next two matches for sixth.
Bleaken was 4-1 on the weekend, taking second. He had a fall over Jared Tribbett from Wabash, a 7-0 decision over Heidelburg's Zach Mixer, a 10-5 decision in the quarter-finals over Chad Swagman from Truman State and a pin in the semifinals over two-time All-American Jason Roush from Mt. St. Joseph. Bleaken fell 3-2 in the finals to Ashland University's Marcus Gordon.

Powers went on to decision Dean Schultz from Truman State and took a medical default from Ohio Northern University's Ben Plowman. He then lost a close 3-2 decision to Adam State's James Reynolds and fell again in the consolation fifth-place match.
Cumberland will next compete at the National Duals in Cedar Falls, IA at the University of Northern Iowa's UNI-dome on January 13 and 14. They look to face the No. 3-ranked William and Penn in the first round, but the seeds are not posted officially at this point. The scheduled match against Carson Newman for January 10 has been postponed since Cumberland University was invited to the National Duals.
