CU Ranked 15th in Pre-Season National Poll
The Cumberland University Wrestling Team is ranked 15th in the NAIA Pre-Season National Poll released Oct. 11, 2007 by the NAIA Coaches' Association. Three wrestlers are ranked as pre-season All-Americans. Junior Desean Willis, senior Theo Dotson and sophomore Corey Bleaken are all ranked fifth, respectively. Dotson and Bleaken are returning All-Americans, and Willis is a returning national qualifier. Dotson placed eighth at last year's national tournament, and Bleaken placed third. Bleaken is moving up to the 157 weight class this season.
The Bulldogs have seven ranked in the East Region. Willis is ranked second, and freshman Joshua Chappa is ranked sixth at 125. Freshman Mikey Davis is ranked fifth at 133. Dotson is ranked fourth at 149; Bleaken is ranked second at 157; junior Jordan Powers is ranked fifth at 174 and sophomore Kyle Studer is ranked sixth at 197.
The next poll will be released during the week of Nov. 13. The Bulldogs open their schedule on Oct. 27 at the Lindenwood University Open Tournament. This weekend will be the Alumni/Intrasquad meet on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. in the Dallas Floyd Gymnasium on the CU campus.
