LEBANON, Tenn. – Three Cumberland wrestlers were recently named 2015 Daktronics NAIA-Scholar-Athletes by the national office during the NAIA Championships in Topeka, Kan. Student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 grade-point-average to be eligible for the award.
Juniors Jamison Manning and Nick Paden along with redshirt sophomore Christian Varner all garnered the accolade. Paden, a native of Hodgenville, Ky., has a perfect 4.0 GPA in Mathematics while Manning, a Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native, carries a 3.71 in Criminal Justice/Public Administration and Varner, a native of Hixson, Tenn., posts a 3.59 in Engineering Science/Mathematics. A total of 46 wrestlers from 21 NAIA institutions were honored.
