Lady Bulldogs bolster roster with seven new commitments

The Cumberland University Women's Soccer coaches have been very busy lately, and as a result, they are proud to announce seven new commitments for the 2008-09 season.

"We lost a significant portion of our roster to graduation, but we are still not willing to sign just anyone. We are also looking to upgrade our talent pool," said CU Head Coach Jeff Loucks. "These seven (four transfers, three incoming freshmen) can all play. We expect an immediate impact from most of them."

Alyxandra Shultz (Augusta, GA), Helena Dimantis (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Kirby Anderson will enter as freshmen in the fall semester, and all are highly touted. Cierra Boots (Feather River CC, California), Frankie Maynard (UT-Martin), Louise Ross (Louisburg CC, North Carolina) and Shauna Fuentez (Laramie County CC, Wyoming) have all decided to transfer to CU. All could have an immediate impact on the lineup, Loucks said.

"We think Cierra, Louise and Shauna (NSCAA Junior College All-American, First Team) can step right in, providing they come to camp fit. The freshmen are all good enough. We will see how quickly they adjust to the speed of the college game. Frankie is rehabbing a knee. If she is healthy, she will contribute," Loucks said.

The Lady Bulldogs open camp on Aug. 10 in preparation for Loucks' second season at the helm.
