Women's soccer falls at Bethel

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s women’s soccer team allowed three second-half goals, including an own goal, falling to Bethel, 4-1, Tuesday in McKenzie, Tenn.
The Bulldogs (4-7-1) were down 1-0 at the half after Bethel’s Ashley Smith netted a goal in the 20th minute on an assist from Sarah Halsall. BC went up two goals in the 61st minute on an own goal, but CU cut the deficit in half a minute later when Cierra Boots assisted Helena Dimantas Farias on her fifth goal of the season.
Bethel scored twice more in the next three minutes, as Taylor Estes netted a goal on an assist from Marika Fukuta and Philisha Lewis added the final score on another Fukuta assist.
Cumberland keeper Jessica West made seven saves in the match and faced 37 shots from the Wildcats.
Cumberland hosts Trevecca on October 21 at 1 p.m. and will play its final regular season match on November 5 at home versus nationally-ranked Martin Methodist.
