Bulldogs drop 3-0 decision at Bethel
LEBANON, Tenn. – Toni Barraco scored in the 39th minute and then twice more in the final 20 minutes of the match, giving Bethel Univ. a 3-0 victory over Cumberland Saturday in the quarterfinals of the TranSouth Women’s Soccer Championships in McKenzie, Tenn.
Cumberland ended its season 3-9-2 overall after participating in the conference tournament for the first time since 2007.
Barraco scored in the 39th minute on an assist from Marika Fukuta, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at the half. CU keeper Cierra Boots kept it close with seven first-half saves and nine total in the match.
Barraco netted goals in the 71st and 74th minutes, both on assists from Kelly-Jade Whalen, for the final tallies of the match. Bethel outshot the Bulldogs, 20-1, and had 11 corner kicks in the victory.
