CU drops 1-0 decision

LEBANON, Tenn. – Lauren Moore scored the only goal of the match in the 60th minute on an assist from Jordana Schults, as Emmanuel College defeated Cumberland, 1-0, in women’s soccer action Friday afternoon at the Golden Corral Classic in Barboursville, Ky.
 
The match was the season opener for the Bulldogs (0-1), who now face Tennessee Temple Saturday. Temple lost to host Union College earlier Friday.
 
Cierra Boots took the loss in goal for CU, making a pair of saves and allowing just the one goal in 90 minutes. Cumberland managed only seven total shots for the match with just two on-goal, one each by Helena Dimantas Farias and Rachel Scoggins.
 
CU was much more aggressive on the offensive attack in the second half, taking five of its second shots, while Boots made both of her saves in the opening period.
 
Ashley Crowley posted the shutout in goal for Emmanuel (1-1), also making a pair of saves. The Saints also took just seven shots in the match.

Cumberland takes on Tennessee Temple at 10 a.m. CT Saturday.
