LEBANON, Tenn. – Helena Dimantas Farias scored unassisted in the 62nd minute just seconds after Union got on the board and Rhianne Parsons made six saves in goal, two in the second overtime, as Cumberland and Union played to a 1-1 draw in women’s soccer action Saturday in Jackson, Tenn.
Rachael Boswell put Union (6-4-1, 1-1-1) ahead at 61:37 but Dimantas Farias netted her seventh goal of the year just 16 seconds later to knot the match at one. Cumberland (4-5-1, 0-2-1) was outshot in the match, 17-12, but Parsons, normally a forward who has had to fill-in this week because of an injury to keeper Hanna Sparks, kept the Bulldogs in the match with her work in net.
Union keeper Sarah White made three saves in the 110-minute match at the Smith Soccer Complex on the Union campus. The match was the fourth in seven days and fifth in 10 days for Cumberland.
Cumberland plays at home again next Saturday, taking on Martin Methodist in a men’s and women’s doubleheader. The women’s match starts at Noon followed by the men around 2 p.m.
