LEBANON, Tenn. – The Cumberland University women’s soccer team will host a benefit 4-v-4 Indoor Soccer Tournament Sunday beginning at noon at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center to raise money and bring awareness to lung cancer.
The tournament, which will benefit the American Lung Association, is being held in honor of Amiee White, the sister of graduate assistant Jordan Nuffer. White was 37 when she lost her battle with Adenocarcinoma on February 6, 2011. Adenocarinoma is the most common form of non-small cell lung cancer that is primarily found in non-smokers.
White was diagnosed with cancer in September 2009, battling through chemotherapy and radiation treatments before succumbing to the disease.
Information about lung cancer will be available in the gym during the tournament and t-shirts will also be on sale for $12, with proceeds going to support cancer awareness.
