LEBANON, Tenn. – Helena Dimantas Farias scored less than a minute into the second half and Morgan Shaffer put the match away with a score in the 76th minute for Cumberland in a 3-1 victory against Campbellsville University on Friday night in Campbellsville, Ky. The win keeps the Bulldogs record unblemished in 2011 at 4-0-0.
Dimantas Farias assisted on the first CU score of the match, a goal from freshman Shauna Gilpin in the 37th minute, but Campbellsville answered 12 seconds later on an unassisted score by Megan Campbell.
Simone Quinn’s free kick found the head of Dimantas Farias 45 seconds into the second half. Shaffer found the back of the net on an assist from Gilpin.
Freshman Lindsay Kitson drew the start in goal, making three saves. The Bulldogs continue to win the battle of possession, outshooting the Tigers, 14-8, in the match. Brandie Hagerman had three saves and allowed all three goals for Campbellsville in net.
Cumberland plays again September 17 at 1 p.m. CT at the University of the Cumberlands. The Bulldogs finally play a home match on Sept. 20, opening TranSouth Conference play against Bethel University at 2 p.m.
