Bulldogs move up one spot to No. 12

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland moved up one spot to 12th in this week’s NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced late Tuesday. The Bulldogs have won seven straight matches overall, outscoring their opponents, 29-3.

CU (9-1-0) faces its stiffest challenge so far this season on Friday, traveling to Pulaski to take on ninth-ranked Martin Methodist (9-1-0) at 7 p.m. The two teams split matches last season, with the RedHawks winning 2-1 in Lebanon during the regular season before Cumberland posted a 1-0 victory in the NAIA Championship Opening Round in Pulaski.

The Bulldogs also host No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson next Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field. Cumberland lost 2-0 to the Blue Raiders during the regular season last year before registering a 2-1 victory in the finals of the Mid-South Conference Championships.

Taylor Nay and Shauna Gilpin are tied for the team lead with eight goals this season, while Nay ranks 10th nationally with 10 assists. She is second in the Mid-South Conference in assists and ranks third with 26 points.
