LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland’s tennis matches scheduled for Friday against Union College in Barbourville, Ky., have been canceled because of forecasted inclement weather in the area. The matches will not be made-up.
Cumberland plays Western Kentucky at home Monday at 2 p.m. in the final home match of the year for the Bulldog women. The men will host McKendree University next Thursday at 1 p.m. in their final home match this season.
Both teams will participate in the NAIA Qualifying Tournament at The Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., on April 29-30. The women will play in a 10-team tournament with teams from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (Milligan College, Tennessee Wesleyan, Bluefield [VA] College, Reinhardt College, Union College), the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (Xavier [LA] University, Fisk University), the TranSouth Athletic Conference (CU, Martin Methodist, Bethel University) and the Association of Independent Institutions (Lambuth University).
The men will play in a six-team tournament that includes the schools from the TranSouth, Gulf Coast and Lambuth. The winning team of each tournament earns an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championships set for May 17-21 in Mobile, Ala.
