Bulldog women's tennis picks up first win
Antea Dedić won both her singles and doubles matches Saturday against Belhaven University.

LEBANON, Tenn. – Angelica Sepulveda, Antea Dedić and Anita Rácz all won in singles and doubles and 22nd-ranked Cumberland won its first match of the year with a 6-3 victory over No. 24 Belhaven University on Saturday at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala., in the AUM Spring Invitational.

The Bulldogs (1-2) started the match strong with a pair of doubles victories and then claimed four singles wins, two in three sets.

Sepulveda and Alena Gizdić defeated Ashley McLendon and Katherine Campbell, 8-1, at No. 1 and Dedić and Rácz posted an 8-3 win at No. 2 over Shelley Munn and Savannah Zachry at No. 2. Belhaven’s Indi Mire and Natalie Krier claimed an 8-3 victory at No. 3 over Sandra Munoz Poletti and Tais Lacerda Bezerra.

In singles Sepulveda defeated McLendon, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 and Dedić registered a 6-0, 6-1, victory over Mire at No. 2. Rácz won in a super tiebreaker, 10-5, against Krier at No. 3 and Lacerda Bezerra recorded a 6-3, 6-3, win at No. 5 versus Munn.

Belhaven’s Zachry defeated Munoz Poletti, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 and Elizabeth Chrestman outlasted Abby Wilson at No. 6, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Cumberland concludes action in the tournament on Sunday before hosting Bluefield College on Monday in Mid-South Conference action.
