
LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland women’s tennis swept singles and doubles matches without losing a game in Friday’s season-opening 7-0 victory against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Nashville, Tenn.
The Phoenix won both contested doubles outings, 6-0, with Angelica Sepulveda and Tarsha de Souza defeating Tia Thomas and Brently Sargent at No. 1 and Trinidad Aguirre and Jasmine Shankar doing the same against Courtney Brand and Lauren Corby at No. 2.
In singles Sepulveda won at No. 1 over Sargent, while de Souza claimed a victory at No. 2 versus Thomas. Sarah Edwards posted a win at No. 3 against Corby and Franki Jecker registered a win at No. 4 over Brand.
Cumberland plays at Belmont next Friday at 4 p.m.
