LEBANON, Tenn. – Marta Ferrando Pea and Franki Jecker collected singles victories and Cumberland posted one doubles win, but Campbellsville University was too much in a 6-3 victory over Cumberland in women’s tennis action Wednesday at the Tommy Gray Memorial Courts.

The Tigers (3-2, 1-0 Mid-South) started with doubles wins at Nos. 1 and 3, with Kaede Amano and Majella Nobile defeating Jecker and Ainhoa Garjio Garrido, 8-2, at No. 1 and Bolor Enkhbayar and Kyleigh Murray winning by the same score at No. 3 versus Jasmine Shankar and Beleń Salazar Yańez.

Edwards and Ferrando Pea got the Phoenix (1-5, 0-1) on the board with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 over Elizabeth Boik and Grace Rowe.

Nobile was the first off in singles, claiming a 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 3 against Shankar before Jecker picked up another point for Cumberland with a 6-2, 6-0, victory at No. 4 versus Murray.

Amano overcame a first-set tiebreaker loss to defeat 28th-ranked Garjio Garrido, 6-7, 6-1, 6-1, but Ferrando Pea posted a victory at No. 2 against Enkhbayar, 6-4, 7-6. The Tigers won at the last two spots in the lineup, with Rowe posting a 7-5, 6-3, victory at No. 5 over Salazar Yańez and Brooklyn Harris recording a 6-0, 6-2, win at No. 6 versus Edwards.

Cumberland plays against next Wednesday at Auburn Montgomery and hosts Lindsey Wilson on March 31.
