LEBANON, Tenn.-- #23 Cumberland Women’s Tennis team split matches this weekend as they fell to #19 SCAD 5-2, and won against Florida National University, 4-0.
SCAD 5, Cumberland 2
The Bee’s posted three wins in doubles action, starting with Simran Kejrual and Katrina De Guzman with a 6-3 victory over Jessica Hernandez and Ainhoa Garijo Garrido. Vivian Amaro and Begona Benjumeda defeated Anna Kopituk Stefanie Navaratnam, 6-1. Nadia Brunzlow and Karina Limyadi ended it for the Bee’s as they defeated Ana Marie Collazos and Joana Boa 6-2.
In Singles, Ainhoa Garijo Garrido was able to defeat SCAD’S Simran Kejrual with a score of 6-2, 6-3. Hernandez also won her event as she came out with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Katrina De Guzman.
SCAD won the remaining matches, No. 3 Nadia Brunzlow defeated Ksenija Dmitrovic 6-1, 6-4. No. 4 Begona Benjumeda defeated Anna Kopituk 6-1, 7-5. No. 5 Karina Limyadi defeated Carly Earnhardt 6-1, 6-1. No. 6 Madie Homan defeated Stefanie Navaratnam 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.

The Phoenix recorded two wins in doubles play, as Ainhoa Garijo Garrido and Jessica Hernandez came out victorious against Candela Bonivardi and Sofia Pera 6-2. Stefanie Navaratnam and Joana Boa posted a 6-0 victory over Andrea Guzman and Lizabeth Ardawal.
Cumberland was able to win three matches in Singles action. Jessica Hernandez was able to start it off for the Phoenix as she defeated Sofia Pera 6-0, 7-5. Anna Kopituk was able to defeat Andrea Guzman 6-3, 6-2. Carly Earnhardt finished it off for the Phoenix as she posted a 6-1,6-0 victory over Lizabeth Ardawal.
The Phoenix will be back at home to face against #15-ranked LSU Alexandria on Sunday, March 8th at 2 P.M.
