OWENSBORO, Ky.--Cumberland women's tennis topped Shawnee State in the consolation round at the MSC Fall Invitational to start the season of 2-1.
Cumberland ran through the doubles matches to take the point as the teams of Jessica Hernandez and Maria Arbeleaz, Kaede Hatano and Lara Zugasti, and Alexandra Leisbach and Carly Earnhardt picked up easy wins.
In singles, Hernandez handled Claire Carruthers in No. 1 singles action 6-0, 6-1. Arbelaez defeated Sara Martin 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. At No. 3 singles, Shawnee State's Grace Eberhard beat Hatano for the one point for the Bears.
Carly Earnhardt posted a 6-2,6-2 win at No. 4 over Lacey Urban. Alexandra Leisibach defeated Elizabeth Scott in straight sets and Lara Zugasti defeated Lexy Urban, 6-1, 6-0.
