Phoenix Women's Tennis falls to No. 5 XULA

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.--No. 5 XULA defeats Cumberland 4-0 in the opening match of the GGC Invite. 

Cumberland lost the doubles point losing 6-2 at No. 2 and 6-0 at No.3 for Xavier to go up a point early. 

In singles action, only three matches were completed as the teams played to clinch with the frigid temperatures to open the event. Mbali Langa defeated Jessica Hernandez at No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-3. At No. 5 Tianna Dixon beat Lara Zugasti 6-1, 6-1 and at No. 6 Valentna Largacha defeated Kaede Hatano 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the win for XULA. 

The Phoenix are set to take on No. 13 St. Thomas tomorrow afternoon.
