Women's Tennis snaps Losing Skid with 6-1 over IU Kokomo

LEBANON, Tenn.--Despite the frigid temperatures, Cumberland snaps their losing streak with a 6-1 win over IU Kokomo in non conference action on Monday. 

The doubles competition saw Cumberland take all three matches with Jessica Hernandez and Maria Arbelaez defeating Gabbie Orlando and Larissa O'Rourke with a score of 6-1 in the first position. Lara Zugasti and Elina Sungatullina won 6-2 against Andrea Saylor and Reily Hiser at No. 2. At No. 3, Juanita Mendez and Carlee Teague defeated Maria Oliviera and Chloe Schmidt with a score of 7-5.

In the singles competition, Cumberland continued their winning streak with Jessica Hernandez defeating Gabbie Orlando 6-1, 6-2 in the first position, while Maria Arbelaez won against Maria Oliviera with a score of 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2. In the third position, Reily Hiser managed to take down Elina Sugatullina 7-5, 6-2 for the only point for the Cougars.

Juanita Mendez won 6-3, 6-1 against Andrea Saylor at No. 4. Cumberland's Lara Zugasti and Kaede Hatano won their matches against Lillie Fishero and Chloe Schmidt with scores of 6-1, 6-0 in the fifth and sixth positions. 

Cumberland will be back in action this weekend to take on Shawnee State and Thomas More on Friday and Saturday in Mid-South Conference action.
