
LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Kalea Barnett won the shot put while senior Garang Madut placed second in the 5000-meters and freshman Jordan Hill finished second in the 800-meters, leading the Cumberland contingent at the Mid-South Conference Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky.
Barnett, a Murfreesboro, Tenn., native, won the shot put with a mark of 42-3 and also finished eighth in the weight throw (35-0). Freshman Riley Kilian claimed third in both the mile run and 3000-meters with times of 5:44.54 and 11:28.46, respectively, while sophomore Claudia Tepox was fourth in the 5000 in 20:25.40 and fifth in the 3000 in 11:40.04.
Freshman Danielle Craft had a busy day, placing fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 34-7 along with fifth in the 60-meters in 8.18 and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 15-8. Junior Marcennia Milburn and freshman Lisa Powell were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 200-meters in 27.52 and 27.60 and Powell placed sixth in the 400-meters in 1:03.34.
For the men Madut finished second in the 5000 in 15:49.91 and also placed sixth in the 3000 in 9:26.47 and eighth in the mile run in 4:37.38. Hill was second in the 800 in 2:00.39.
Freshman Martarious Brooks placed third in the 200 in 22.36 and sixth in the 60 in 7.09. Freshman Josiah Scott was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 39-5.
The Cumberland men (Travon Wimley, Dante Bertrand, Hill, Brooks) won the 4x400-meter relay in 3:31.42, while the Cumberland women (Milburn, Tamia Aldridge, Nyia Hall, Powell) placed second in the 4x400 in 4:18.79.
