Barnett takes first in shot put on Day 2 at Falcon Classic

LEBANON, Tenn. – Kalea Barnett won the shot put while Amber Mays finished third in the 1,500-meters and fifth in the 800-meters for Cumberland women’s track and field Saturday at the Falcon Classic in Montevallo, Ala.

Barnett added to her first and fourth-place showings on Friday with another first on Saturday, this one in the shot put with a mark 39-7.75. Mahogany Huddleston finished fifth in the event with a mark of 35-7.25.

Mays paced the women’s team in the running events, placing third in the 1500 in 5:00.29 and fifth in the 800 in 2:31.06. Riley Kilian was sixth in the 800 in 2:31.96 and also placed seventh in the 5000-meters in 19:29.98.

The women’s 4x400-meter relay of Sanura Rhodes, Faith Wilson, Madison Dalhover and Cimone Toppin finished fourth in 49.89.

Cumberland runs again in two weeks at the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky.
